Buses and Coaches
There are two main means of transport by road in Malaysia: By bus or by taxi. In addition to buses, there are so-called coaches; these are a somewhat more luxurious ways to go, given that coaches tend to have cabin entertainment, usually a video playing. Coaches can also have an on-board lavatory, as well as generally more comfortable seats.
Booking your bus in advance is recommended
Ticket price for coach tickets is commensurately higher. Still, bus and coach are very affordable here in Malaysia. But it makes sense to check which bus operator is most suitable for your kind of travel before you place your booking.
Incidentally, online booking is advisable, particularly during weekends, school holidays, public holidays and pretty much the entire stretch, as it's peak period.
For your information, there are trains too, but the network isn't quite as extensive (yet) and the bus and coach system.

If you prefer to travel in a bit more style and comfort, then there are taxis. These can also be booked online.
Various taxi models and sizes are available
Taxi rates are higher than bus or coach tickets obviously, but taxi cost in Malaysia is much much lower than in Europe, US, Australia etc. Have a look at the table below as an example. Currency is Singapore Dollar.
